Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains, Birds of a Feather School is located outside the town limits of Purcellville, VA in the western portion of Loudoun County. It is close to the historic town of Hillsboro, located on route 9, and is a scenic drive from Leesburg and points east, as well as from West Virginia to the west. There are quaint inns and B&B's and a number of wineries en route. For more information, please consult Loudoun's Visitor's Center, www.visitloudoun.org.
There are two houses on the 3.5 acre site. At left is the studio, used exclusively for teaching and creating, a 575 square foot 1810 log and wood siding structure. The house on the right is personal living quarters, which is shared by cats with special needs (www.catscrossingva.com.)
Many of our projects integrate our love of nature and its wonders. An outdoor teaching space was created amidst a patch of woods along the stream. An outdoor sculpture garden was created to inspire visitor's imaginations. A recycled windchime from metal discards towers over rocks and logs in which you might find faces or animals. We are proud to include a peacock, rooster and chickens with the multiple cats, who live harmoniously at Birds of a Feather School.
